Rosette Doom, born in Ostend in 1906, was a Belgian ballerina who became particularly well-known for her impressive career in the dance world. She was the very first ballerina at the Royal Opera in Ghent. In 1949, Rosette founded her own ballet school in Ostend, ‘Ballet School Rose D’Ivry’.
In 1984, her daughter, Carla Rabau, took over the leadership. The ballet school offers training in classical dance, modern dance, jazz dance, musical show dance, and tap dance, and has more than 100 members. In 2019, the Rose D’Ivry Park was inaugurated in Ostend in honor of her rich artistic legacy.
