Yasmina Van Hove, one of Ostend’s most beautiful washed-up souls. As a top model, she traveled the world, often far from home, and lived in hotels. It was during her career in the fashion world that she discovered her passion for art. The makeup work in the fashion world inspired her to start sketching, which eventually led her to painting.
In 1982, she visited the Kursaal in Ostend for the first time, where she attended a vernissage of Salvador Dalí. There began her story with the city and the legendary Mercator commander. The city and its inhabitants gained a special place in her heart, and she began capturing the beauty of Ostend on canvas. At first, she painted on the street, but soon she found her place in her own studio. Ostend is literally and figuratively “in her top drawer”, and her work testifies to the deep love she cherishes for the city.
