° 15/11/1979, Ostend
Tim Corbisier began his mission by cleaning up waste during his running sessions along the coast of Ostend. What initially started as a personal action quickly grew into a broader movement. This led to the creation of Proper Strand Lopers (2016), an organization that now mobilizes thousands of volunteers to keep the beaches clean. Through the power of social media and the involvement of local communities, the initiative has expanded to all coastal municipalities.
In addition to clean-up actions, the organization also works on prevention, with the aim of reducing the amount of litter at the source. Annually, thousands of liters of waste are removed and registered, with Proper Strand Lopers playing an essential role in maintaining a clean and healthy coast.
His daughter Rosie Corbisier (°2013), follows in her father’s footsteps. She wants to be an inspiration for other young people and shows that you’re never too young to make a difference. With her enthusiastic involvement in clean-up actions, she demonstrates that caring for the environment can be valuable and fun for young people too.
