Staf Cattoor was a versatile Ostend resident who made his mark in both local politics and cultural life. His flamboyant mustache and charismatic presence made him a striking figure.
As drum major of Show Corps Willen Is Kunnen (WIK), he led the drum band from 1965 and was the driving force of the corps until 1984. From 1985 to 2020, he served as general chairman of Gymnastics Association WIK, and even as honorary chairman, he remained closely involved in the club’s operations.
In politics, Staf was active as a city council member and alderman for sports, where he fully displayed his passion for Ostend.
