Lilou Hens, a promising gymnast from Ostend, saw her life change drastically at the age of 12. During a family vacation in South Africa in 2022, she suffered a severe accident. As a result, she became paralyzed from her waist down due to a complete spinal cord injury. But Lilou did not let herself be discouraged.
After intensive rehabilitation, her love for sports remained stronger than ever. She discovered sit-skiing and now dreams of participating in the Winter Paralympic Games in 2030. To support her, the vzw Fou de Lilou was established, which raises funds for her rehabilitation and sporting ambitions. Lilou’s extraordinary perseverance, positivity, and passion make her an inspiring example for many.
