With 328 official matches, Lars Wallaeys is the undisputed record holder at KV Oostende, the club where his heart lies. As a true Ostend native, he dedicated his entire career to the Coastal Boys. He joined the youth team in 1990 and made his debut in the first team in 2001. Over 22 seasons, including twelve as a professional, he grew into a club icon.
He experienced a highlight in the 2004-2005 season when KV Oostende played in the First Division. Wearing the captain’s armband, Wallaeys was praised for his loyalty, dedication, and determination. In May 2012, at the age of 31, he bid farewell to professional football after an impressive career entirely devoted to his club and city. Today, Lars continues his commitment as director of GO! Atheneum Athena in Oostende , where he passes on his passion and determination to the next generation.
