Julien Goekint was an influential Belgian politician from Ostend, a member of the CVP. As mayor of Ostend from 1980 to 1997, he played a crucial role in the development of the city. Under his leadership, important projects were realized, such as the growth of Ostend’s port and airport.
Goekint was also involved in modernizing the Kursaal. His term in office was characterized by a combination of determination and a pragmatic approach to position Ostend as a modern and prosperous city.
Over a period of 17 years, he left his mark on the city’s politics as mayor.
