Jean-Pierre Severens is a passionate musician, conductor, and the driving force behind the Melody Makers Oostende. Since moving to Oostende in 1992, he found his home in the Westerkwartier, a neighborhood that not only embraced him but with which he feels deeply connected.
As chairman and conductor of the Melody Makers, he plays a key role in making music accessible to young and old. The association performs a wide range of music genres and organizes atmospheric events such as the West Quarter Festival and the Christmas market on Vissersplein. His musical contribution is a constant value in Oostende’s culture.
Besides his passion for music, Jean-Pierre built a career at Van Mossel Mercedes-Benz, from which he is now retired. But sitting still? That’s not in his scores. With his enthusiasm and dedication, he continues to make Oostende swing.
