Peter Craeymeersch has firmly put Oostende on the map as the coastal city of Belgium. Since joining Toerisme Oostende in 1997 – first as marketing director, later as general director – he has given the city a clear identity. While Oostende struggled with its image in the 1990s, he focused on its maritime and cultural assets, enabling the city to distinguish itself from other seaside resorts and cultural hotspots.
In 2007, he founded Filmfestival Oostende, which under his artistic direction has grown into one of the city’s most important cultural events. Additionally, he is the manager of Kursaal Oostende, an iconic venue that contributes to the city’s vibrant culture with top concerts and events.
With a long-term vision and inexhaustible drive, Peter Craeymeersch has made Oostende much more than a seaside resort – he has positioned the city as a dynamic destination where culture and sea converge.
