Drossaert, born in Willebroek, enjoys life in Ostend, where the proximity to the sea nourishes her creativity. After her education at the Academy of Mechelen, she developed her own versatile style that made her grow into a multidisciplinary artist. Whether it’s paintings, hand-tufted carpets, jacquard work, murals, or glasswork, Mieke’s work exudes passion and craftsmanship. Her iconic ‘Colour Full People’ radiate a playful and dreamy energy, even in their imperfect forms. Inspired by music and her senses, Mieke creates art that touches people. With the Residents project, she left a deep impression by immortalizing the lives of elderly people with dementia in a respectful and intimate way. Her work has been exhibited in Ostend and Mechelen, among other places, but also abroad. Characterized by a unique mix of color, emotion, and a special connection with the human experience.
